The INTEGRA e-learning platform: update on the development of the training modules

In the last weeks, the INTEGRA project partners have started developing the training modules that will compose the e-learning course. The INTEGRA online course will offer practical tools and resources that will help immigrants, adult educators, trainers and volunteers of organizations supporting immigrants in the developing key cultural competences.

The course is composed by training 4 modules which are essential for anyone looking to integrate into a new culture or simply gain a better understanding of the complex issues surrounding migration. The modules are: 1-Cross-cultural awareness, 2- Understanding different cultures, 3- Work with stereotypes, and 4-Learn a language in the hosting country.

In particular, Module 1 – Cross-cultural awareness will first start with the famous Iceberg of culture by athropologist Edward T. Hall and the way our cultural background impacts on the way we perceive the world and behave in society. Culture and identity are two closely related concepts that need a profound understanding. Module 1 also deals with the enriching potential of cultural diversity by taking Europe cultural heritage as an example of mosaic of cultural and creative expressions.

With the help of open educational resources (UNESCO Reccomendations), the course will provide participants with a comprehensive and interactive learning experience and ways to assess the learners own learning progress through quizzes and hands-on activities. Partner will meet in September in Esbjerg, Denmark for the third international workshop to work on the development of the modules and discuss about the implementation of the course key topics.

The INTEGRA partners are committed to making this e-learning course accessible to anyone who wants to participate, regardless of their background or location.
